Golden repairs

An interesting day: I met Marie Sewell to discuss kintsugi, I hope that is the right spelling. It is a Japanese method of repairing broken ceramics by using gold lacquer. The idea is to draw attention to breaks not to hide them.
Marie is designing the cover of a collection of poems that I have finally finished writing after what seems like a hundred years. The title took what seemed like another hundred years to appear — Our Beautiful Scars, that’s what it will be called when it makes its way in the world later this year.
In the meantime, Marie is thinking about cover design. It turns out she used to have a job as an embellisher of prints, which strikes me as a rather interesting thing to do. It also turns out that she has a stock of gold leaf and gold paint. Handy.
